Keeping Clean And ‘SERENE’ Through Covid-19!

At such an unprecedented time in the world right now with the Covid-19 global pandemic, resident safety is our number one priority.

Serene Living is proud to say that we hold extremely high hygiene and health standards, going above and beyond requirements, to ensure our residents are kept safe.

In addition to general social distancing and hand hygiene guidelines, Management has also implemented all contractors and health care/assistance workers to wear PPE mask and gloves during all visits to the village.  Everyone entering the village, including all staff and visitors, must undertake mandatory touch-free temperature testing and complete a Covid-19 declaration.  There is now a new safety shield at Reception, meaning staff have minimal contact with anyone entering the village, in further efforts to ensure the resident’s utmost safety.

There are now extra exercise activities and classes on each day to ensure no one misses out, with safe social distancing in smaller groups.  It is very important that residents keep a healthy mind and body as the pandemic continues.  Residents are now able to indulge in dance class, tai chi, fit ball, circuit, gentle chair, line dancing and a multitude of other fun and interactive activities like movie screenings in our Cinema, games and cards, billiards, mahjong, art classes, jazz appreciation sessions, short story writer’s club and themed lunch menus in the Serene Cuizine Cafe each week.

Several recent studies have demonstrated that the pandemic has also brought on huge statistics of isolation, depression and loneliness, particularly in the over 50’s age group, and more commonly with those living on their own, under lockdown, with no interaction or ability to leave their home.  Serene Management and staff love seeing residents able to keep up safe social interactions with other residents and staff under government restrictions, assist with meal ordering through our cafe or online delivery, and also ensure daily welfare checks are completed to make sure all residents are ‘ok’ – physically and mentally at this difficult time.

And why keep it dull and boring?  Staff are all brightening up Reception with their colourful and fun masks!  Sandy’s has so far created the most popular votes with her handmade ‘Spiderman’ mask.  Keep up the great work guys!
