Why We Chose Serene Living – Resident Story

We love hearing stories about our resident’s past and why they chose Serene Living as their new home.  Here is a truly beautiful story from two of our newest residents, Brian and Lorraine Baguley:

Living on the coast has always been a dream of ours. We were childhood sweethearts, born and lived in a small inland town all our lives up until two years ago, when our daughter Deanne informed us they were moving to the coast for a lifestyle change. Her decision made our decision very easy – realising our dream of coastal living, not to mention Deanne’s peace of mind having us close, and the Specialised Medical Services at John Flynn who have since saved Brian’s life.

We looked at a few retirement communities but were ruled out because the distance to walk to shops, beach and to specialists. Searching the web, both our daughter and ourselves found Serene Living, and after walking in the front door, we both instantly thought ‘we could live here’ – even before seeing the available units. Serene had every requirement on our check list. We were welcomed with smiles and we could feel the relaxed lifestyle straight away.

We feel we have fitted in very well at Serene as the Staff and residents made us welcome from day one, and from that time on we have felt the atmosphere here is “the best stage of our lives so let’s make the most of it.”

Our daily walks each morning along the Tweed River to Greenmount Beach where we sit having a coffee and looking out at the ocean is the best part of the day. We still can’t believe we made such a life changing move but each day we are grateful we have. Leaving our place of birth, our son, family and friends was the bravest, but greatest move we could ever have made.
